Kim Kardashian has worn more designer gowns this year than most of us will in a lifetime, but apparently she liked some more than others. On her website, the 35-year-old decided to share with the world the six exact red carpet dresses she liked best. Read and learn, people.
Kim Kardashian took to the 2015 Met Gala in a crystal-embroidered (and extremely sheer) Roberto Cavalli gown featuring long sleeves, a plunging back, feathered train and high neckline (not that a high neckline matters when you have all those see-through panels to contend with!). The star paired her look with diamond jewelry and a sleek, high ponytail (with the extensions she promised!).
Kardashian was accompanied by husband Kanye West, naturally—her date to the Met Gala for the last three years.
2014, the couple went for a more, well, low-key (but nonetheless super-luxe) look for their Met Gala outing: Mrs. West took to the ceremony in a high-slit, sapphire blue Lanvin gown, which she paired with a waist-cinching belt and black cage sandals.
This was, however, Kim’s second look of the night! The star was first spotted leaving her hotel in a rocker-chic version of the Lanvin look—sporting a stud-adorned belt and wrist cuffs with the dress, as well as slinkier ankle-strap sandals.
Kanye, meanwhile, hit the carpet in a more formal tuxedo (those lapels bring Downton Abbey to mind), also by Lanvin, with black patent shoes (seriously, we could have put our makeup on in those boots). All in all, the look served us a hefty dose of understated perfection, which is refreshing when you consider the risks this fashion-forward pair has taken before.
the couple’s first Met Gala appearance in 2013 (also a showstopper, naturally): A then very-pregnant Kim wore a figure-hugging Givenchy number with a beautiful blossom print, matching gloves and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry. She complemented her gown with coordinating flower-printed sandals from close pal Riccardo Tisci’s brand. Kanye kept it cool, as always, in a trim black Givenchy tuxedo.
Mr. West even performed at the 2013 affair, singing a sweet song that included the line “You’re so awesome" to a nearly nine-month-pregnant Kim. Aw.
As for whether Kanye will give an impromptu performance at this year’s gala, well, we’ll just have to wait and find out!
